  I'm willing to forgive a lot in a restaurant if the food is good. And Taco de Mexico has a lot to forgive. The most obvious drawback to TdM is its depressing and seriously outdated decor. The rickety old booths and tables are from a long-bygone era and, worse, everything looks like it's covered in a layer of decades-old grime. One gets the sense that cleanliness is not a high priority for this establishment. Prices are also a bit out of line for a hole-in-the-wall taqueria like this. Except for the tacos, which are $2.50 each, everything on the menu is overpriced. Fortunately, the tacos are TdM's best menu item. Served as they should be - on two, soft, mini-tortillas, with cilantro, onions, and salsa - the tacos are authentic and tasty. The carnitas is my favorite - comparable to the best in LA and definitely better than anything you'll find in the SLO area. I like my carnitas moist, so I typically get some extra salsa on the side. Since discovering TdM's tacos, I have no interest in eating at any other Mexican place in town. It would be great if TdM decided to remodel one day, or even gave the place a good scrubbing. That'd probably earn them a fifth star. But, if surroundings don't bother you very much and you're just looking for excellent Mexican, this is the place to go.
  
  Update: I still like TdM, but it's no longer my go-to place for Mexican since discovering Tonita's.

  Stopped on our way back to the Inland Empire - was 30$ for 2 burrito supremes and 1 carne asada fries - defenitly overpriced - and as far as the taste - i've had better - meat unseasoned - thankfully the salsa adds flavor - the fries were ultra soggy - and everything thrown on them without care - ugly.

  Great local Mexican food that's fresh, tasty, & clean. Veggie friendly (I'm a vegetarian).

  They open before lunch time, delicious mexican food. Carne asada torta, very tasty and fresh.

  First time at this location. Ordered a carnitas burrito, it tastes OK. As you can see, it's almost all rice and beans, and the rice and beans are very bland. Hot sauce is hot but salty and does not taste good. The picture is about halfway through the burrito. Almost no meat at all and I paid 8 dollars for it. Go to Morro Bay Tacos De Mexico, it is so so much better!!
